Description

This Banana Nut Bread is a classic recipe that is moist, flavorful, and loaded with ripe bananas and crunchy nuts. Perfect for breakfast or as a snack with a cup of tea or coffee.

Ingredients

For the Banana Bread:

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 cup)
  • 1/3 cup melted butter (or neutral oil)
  • 3/4 cup sugar (can reduce to 1/2 cup if you like it less sweet)
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Mash bananas: In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth. Stir in the melted butter.
  3. Add wet ingredients: Mix in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla.
  4. Combine dry ingredients: Sprinkle baking soda and salt over the mixture and stir in. Add flour and mix gently until just combined (don’t overmix).
  5. Add nuts: Fold in the chopped nuts.
  6. Bake: Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool and serve: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

  • You can add a handful of chocolate chips for extra sweetness.
  • Store the bread in an airtight container to keep it fresh.
