Description

Ingredients

Cheese Curds:

  • 1 pound (2 – 8 ounce packages) cheese curds (white cheese curds, Cabot brand)

Batter:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cold buttermilk
  • 1 large egg, room temperature and well beaten

Others:

  • 34 cups vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Dry Cheese Curds: Pat dry the cheese curds and freeze for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat Oil: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet to 375°F.
  3. Prepare Batter: Mix flour, baking powder, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt in a bowl. Add buttermilk and egg, whisk until smooth.
  4. Fry Curds: Dip cheese curds in batter, fry in oil until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
