Crispy air fryer calzones packed with creamy chicken Alfredo and gooey mozzarella – comfort food made quick and easy!
Ingredients
Calzone Filling
- 1 cup cooked chicken, shredded
- 1 cup Alfredo sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
Dough
- 1 package (16 ounces) refrigerated pizza dough
- All-purpose flour for dusting
Finishing
- 1 tablespoon olive oil for brushing
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F. In a mixing bowl, combine shredded chicken, Alfredo sauce, mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Stir until thoroughly mixed.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the refrigerated pizza dough into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick. Cut into 4 equal squares.
- Place about ⅓ cup of the chicken Alfredo mixture in the center of each dough square.
- Fold dough squares over the filling to create pockets. Press edges firmly to seal and crimp with a fork if desired.
- Brush tops of calzones with olive oil. Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush egg wash over the calzones for a golden finish.
- Arrange calzones in the air fryer basket in a single layer with space between each. Cook for 10-12 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked.
- Remove calzones from air fryer and allow to cool for one minute before serving.
Notes
- Ensure calzone edges are tightly sealed to prevent filling from leaking during air frying
- Use rotisserie chicken for convenience or cook and shred chicken breasts ahead of time
- Don’t overfill calzones or they may burst open while cooking
- Let calzones cool briefly before eating as the filling will be very hot
