Description

Crispy air fryer calzones packed with creamy chicken Alfredo and gooey mozzarella – comfort food made quick and easy!

Ingredients

Calzone Filling

  • 1 cup cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 cup Alfredo sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Dough

  • 1 package (16 ounces) refrigerated pizza dough
  • All-purpose flour for dusting

Finishing

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for brushing
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F. In a mixing bowl, combine shredded chicken, Alfredo sauce, mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Stir until thoroughly mixed.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the refrigerated pizza dough into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick. Cut into 4 equal squares.
  3. Place about ⅓ cup of the chicken Alfredo mixture in the center of each dough square.
  4. Fold dough squares over the filling to create pockets. Press edges firmly to seal and crimp with a fork if desired.
  5. Brush tops of calzones with olive oil. Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush egg wash over the calzones for a golden finish.
  6. Arrange calzones in the air fryer basket in a single layer with space between each. Cook for 10-12 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked.
  7. Remove calzones from air fryer and allow to cool for one minute before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure calzone edges are tightly sealed to prevent filling from leaking during air frying
  • Use rotisserie chicken for convenience or cook and shred chicken breasts ahead of time
  • Don’t overfill calzones or they may burst open while cooking
  • Let calzones cool briefly before eating as the filling will be very hot
