Ingredients
Cake:
- 1½ cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons cocoa

- 5 tablespoons vegetable oil

- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup cold water
Frosting:
- ½ cup butter, melted
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 5 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup milk, or more if needed
Instructions
- Cake: Preheat oven to 350°F. In an UNGREASED 8×8-inch pan, combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Make wells for oil, vinegar, and vanilla. Pour water over all ingredients and stir until smooth. Bake for 30-35 minutes.
- Frosting (optional): Mix cocoa and melted butter. Add vanilla, powdered sugar, and milk. Beat until smooth for 2-3 minutes.
