Description

This easy crockpot orange chicken recipe is a delicious Asian-inspired dish that is perfect for a comforting weeknight dinner. Tender chicken pieces are slow-cooked in a flavorful orange sauce until they are juicy and infused with sweet and tangy flavors. Ingredients

Chicken:

  • pounds chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces

Orange Sauce:

  • ½ cup orange marmalade
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger or ½ teaspoon dried
  • ¼ to ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

Garnish:

  • White sesame seeds (optional)
  • Chopped green onion (optional)

Instructions

  1. Add chicken pieces to crockpot.
  2. In a bowl, mix the orange marmalade, ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Pour over the chicken.

  3. Cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours.
  4. Mix water and cornstarch; add to crockpot during the last 10 minutes of cooking to thicken the sauce.
  5. Serve over rice, garnish with sesame seeds and green onion.

Notes

  • If you prefer more spice, add extra red pepper flakes for heat without overpowering the sauce.
  • Don’t forget to spoon out the remaining sauce from the slow cooker to drizzle over the chicken and rice for extra flavor.
