Description
These Easy Cheeseburger Sliders in the Oven are perfect for feeding a crowd or a simple weeknight dinner. They are juicy, flavorful, and topped with a delicious burger sauce. Baked on a sheet pan, these sliders are a breeze to make!
Ingredients
For the Sliders:
- 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 small sweet onion, finely diced
- 1 pound lean ground beef, 85–90%
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
- 1 package King’s Hawaiian Rolls, 12 count
- 12 slices cheddar cheese, or 6 ounces shredded, about 1 1/2 cups
- 12 dill pickle chips
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 tablespoon sesame seeds
For the Burger Sauce:
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 4 teaspoons ketchup
- 2 teaspoons yellow mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon pickle juice, or 1 teaspoon pickle relish, sweet or dill
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/8 teaspoon chili powder
- Pinch of fresh ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Caramelize the Onions: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions and sauté for 6–8 minutes until soft and caramelized. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Cook the Beef: In the same skillet, add ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook, breaking up the meat, for 6–7 minutes, until browned. Drain excess grease and stir in the caramelized onions.
- Prepare the Rolls: Using a sharp serrated knife, cut the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping the tops and bottoms intact. Place the bottom halves on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Assemble the Sliders: Layer 6 slices of cheese over the bottom buns. Evenly spread the cooked beef mixture over the cheese. Add the remaining 6 slices of cheese and distribute the pickle chips over the top. Place the top halves of the rolls over the sliders.
- Butter & Bake: Melt butter in a microwave-safe dish and stir in sesame seeds. Brush the butter mixture evenly over the tops of the rolls. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Make the Burger Sauce: While sliders bake, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle juice, garlic powder, chili powder, and black pepper in a small bowl. Stir until well combined.
- Serve & Enjoy: Slice the sliders and serve with burger sauce for dipping!
Notes
- Make-Ahead Tips: The beef mixture can be cooked a day in advance and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. When ready to serve, assemble the sliders and bake.
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheating Instructions: Oven: Reheat at 350°F for 9–12 minutes until warm. Microwave: Heat in 30–60 second increments (note: buns may soften). Air Fryer: Preheat to 350°F, heat for 3–4 minutes until warmed through.
- Freezing Instructions: Place cooled sliders in an airtight container or freezer-safe bag. Freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before reheating.
