These easy crockpot steak bites are cooked to tender perfection in a flavorful au jus sauce, making them a delicious option to serve over mashed potatoes or egg noodles.
Ingredients
Steak Bites:
- 3 pounds sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
Additional Ingredients:
- 1 small sweet onion, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 1 cup unsalted beef stock
- 1 1 ounce packet au jus gravy mix
- 4 Tablespoons unsalted butter, thinly sliced
- Fresh chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Steak: In a large bowl, toss cubed steak with salt and pepper.
- Sear Steak: Sear steak pieces in batches in a large skillet over medium-high heat with oil. Transfer seared steak to the slow cooker.
- Add Ingredients: Add onion and garlic to the slow cooker with the steak bites. Pour in beef stock, sprinkle with au jus mix, and top with butter slices.
- Cook: Cover the slow cooker and cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-8 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and enjoy warm.
Notes
- Round steak, stew meat, or chuck roast can be used instead of sirloin.
- Searing the steak is optional but adds flavor.
- Unsalted beef broth can be substituted for beef stock.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for 3 months.
