Description

Funeral Potatoes are a classic and comforting side dish perfect for any gathering. This easy-to-make recipe features a creamy, cheesy hashbrown casserole topped with a crispy cornflake crust.


Ingredients

Main Ingredients:

  • 30 oz package of traditional frozen hash browns (thawed for 20 mins)
  • ½ large yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder

Additional Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 2½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 3 cups corn flakes, crushed

Instructions

  1. Saute Onion: In a skillet, cook chopped onion in butter until soft.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine hash browns, salt, pepper, sour cream, cheddar cheese, cream of chicken soup, and cooked onion.
  3. Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F. Transfer mixture to a casserole dish and bake for 30 minutes. Stir well and continue baking until bubbly, about 20-30 minutes.
  4. Add Topping: Sprinkle crushed corn flakes on top of the casserole and bake for an additional 5 minutes until golden.
  5. Serve: Remove from oven and serve hot.
