Homemade Slow Cooker Maple Apple Butter is a delicious, spiced spread perfect for the fall season. Made with Honeycrisp apples, maple syrup, and warm spices, this apple butter is sweet and smooth, ideal for spreading on toast or using in recipes.
Ingredients
For the Apple Butter:
- 4 lb Honeycrisp apples, cored and diced
- 1 ¼ cup apple cider
- ½ cup real maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tsp cinnamon or 1–2 cinnamon sticks
- ½ tsp freshly grated nutmeg
- 1 pinch ground cloves (about 1/4 teaspoon)
- 1 pinch sea salt or kosher salt
Instructions
- Slow Cooker: In the slow cooker, combine apples, apple cider, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 4-5 hours. Puree, return to cooker, and cook uncovered for 1-2 hours.
- Instant Pot: Combine ingredients in the Instant Pot, cook on high pressure for 20 minutes. Puree, return to pot, and cook uncovered for 15-20 minutes.
- Stove-Top: Cook ingredients in a pot over medium heat until softened. Puree, return to pot, and cook uncovered for 15-20 minutes.
Notes
- Adjust sweetness level to taste with more maple syrup.
- Store apple butter in glass jars in the fridge for up to 1 month.
