Description
A homemade version of the classic KFC coleslaw that’s creamy, tangy, and sweet, making it the perfect accompaniment to fried chicken, BBQ, or sandwiches. Making it fresh at home elevates the flavors even more!
Ingredients
Coleslaw:
- 8 cups finely chopped green cabbage (about 1 medium head)
- 1/4 cup shredded carrot (about 1 small carrot)
- 2 tablespoons minced onion
Dressing:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup buttermilk
- 2 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice (fresh is best)
- 1 1/2 tablespoons white vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
- Prepare the vegetables: Finely chop the cabbage, shred the carrot, and mince the onion. Combine them in a large mixing bowl.
- Make the dressing: In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sugar, milk, buttermilk, lemon juice, vinegar, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Combine and toss: Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture. Stir well to coat all the vegetables evenly.
- Chill and serve: Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best flavor. Stir again before serving.
