Ingredients

For the Bread:

  • 2½ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1¼ cups warm water
  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1¾ teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the Yeast: In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix Ingredients: Add olive oil, salt, and vegetable oil. Stir well.
  3. Add Flour: Gradually add bread flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the Dough: On a floured surface, knead the dough for 7–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Let it Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  6. Shape the Loaf: Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  7. Rise Again: Let the dough rise for 30–40 minutes until puffy.
  8. Preheat and Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the bread for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Optional Topping: Brush with melted butter if desired.
  10. Cool and Serve: Allow the bread to cool before slicing and serving.
