Description

This hearty and halal-friendly recipe features tender sirloin tips simmered in a flavorful, homemade beef gravy. Perfect for cozy dinners and full of savory goodness.


Ingredients

Main Ingredients:

  • lbs sirloin tips, cubed
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp each: salt, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, paprika
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Gravy:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1½ tsp Worcestershire sauce (halal)
  • ¼ tsp each: dried thyme, rosemary
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch + ¼ cup cold water (for slurry)

Instructions

  1. Season and Coat: Season beef with spice mix and coat with flour.
  2. Brown Beef: Brown beef in olive oil in batches; remove and set aside.
  3. Sauté Onion and Garlic: Sauté onion and garlic in butter.
  4. Add Broth and Spices: Add broth, bouillon, Worcestershire, and spices; simmer.
  5. Simmer Beef: Return beef to pan; simmer 20–25 mins.
  6. Thicken Gravy: Stir in cornstarch slurry to thicken.
  7. Rest and Serve: Let rest 5 mins before serving.

Notes

  • Substitute wine with beef broth for a halal version.
  • Let the beef rest before serving to retain juices.
