Description

Ingredients

Main Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 1 ¾ cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup tomato sauce

Seasonings and Garnish:

  • ½ small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil: In a large skillet or saucepan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat.
  2. Sauté rice: Add rice and sauté for 3-5 minutes until lightly golden, stirring frequently.
  3. Cook onion and garlic: Add chopped onion and cook until softened, then stir in minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  4. Add liquids and seasonings: Pour in chicken broth, tomato sauce, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat.
  5. Simmer: Cover and simmer for 15-18 minutes until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  6. Fluff and garnish: Fluff the rice with a fork, garnish with fresh cilantro, and serve.
